Aasandha Company Limited’s Managing Director, Mariyam Shafeeq has claimed that there is a lot of wastage in the Aasandha insurance scheme.
She mentioned the worrying amount of wastage in the current Aasandha scheme during an interview she gave to Raaje TV. However, with the introduction of the Aasandha app, individuals can now see their medical expenses and unauthorized or invalid transactions can be reported via the app itself. This is a good way to minimize wastage and prevent fraud, according to Mariyam.
“Aasandha is quite a costly scheme that involves a lot of wastage. I don’t think we (Aasandha) alone can improve the situation. Aasandha and the general public need to work together to minimize the wastage of public funds to see actual progress.” Mariyam added.
Last year more than MVR 217 million were disbursed to 5500 individuals to seek medical treatment abroad via the Aasandha scheme.
