President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that the Thilamale’ Bridge project will be awarded within the next two weeks.
Speaking at a press conference held today, President Solih indicated that the Thilamale’ Bridge project would be awarded within the next two weeks. He also stated that the project’s tender process had been finished and that the valuation was nearing completion. However, he highlighted there were delays in the project owing to the pandemicc, as well as delays in arranging talks with the EXIM Bank of India on the project.
The 140-meter navigation bridge will contain 2.96 kilometres of at-grade highways and will span four distinct islands. The bridge will include 141-kilometer maritime viaducts installed in deeper waters and 2.32-kilometer marine viaducts constructed on land.
The President also discussed the international port project that would be built in Gulhifalhu. He stated that the project’s paperwork had been complete and that fundraising for the project was now ongoing.
EXIM Bank of India is supporting the development of the Thilamale’ Bridge and the Gulhifalhi Port.
