In a significant development, law enforcement authorities apprehended a third individual on Sunday night in connection with the heinous murder of a middle-aged woman discovered lifeless in her residence at N. Manadhoo. The victim, identified as 62-year-old Naeema Moosa residing at Annaarumaage, fell victim to a fatal stabbing in her bedroom on April 7, at approximately 6:30 pm.
Naeema, who lived alone and worked as a street sweeper employed by the local council, was officially reported missing by her family at around 6:13 pm on the same day, as she had not been seen since April 5. Police were forced to forcibly enter her bedroom, where they tragically found her deceased on the floor.
Authorities confirmed that a 21-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Sunday night under a court order, directly linked to the murder investigation. Notably, reliable sources indicate that the apprehended individual possesses a criminal record primarily involving drug-related offenses. The suspect, a resident of Manadhoo, was arrested in the capital city of Male’, where he currently resides. It has been determined that the vehicle allegedly used by the assailants, which has been seized by the police, is registered under the ownership of this individual.
In addition to this latest arrest, two other individuals have already been detained in connection with the murder. Furthermore, the police have successfully recovered two weapons used in the crime, alongside the attire worn by the assailants at the time of the offense.
Residents of Manadhoo have reportedly stated that these suspects are known to be drug addicts. One of the apprehended individuals, identified as Ahzam Abdul Shakoor, 23, hailing from Fehivillage in N. Manadhoo, has confessed to the crime during interrogation. Prior to relocating back to Manadhoo, Ahzam had resided in the capital, Male’, and is said to have been associated with a criminal gang during his time there. He was initially arrested for drug possession following a tip-off.
