The High Court has ordered the postponement of the termination of three of the seven police officers recommended for dismissal by the Police Board.
On October 6, five of the seven senior police officers recommended for removal by the Police Board filed a lawsuit in Civil Court to oppose their dismissal.
The Civil Court refused their plea for a court order to postpone their termination while the matter is being heard. Following that, the policemen filed an appeal with the High Court, which set a hearing for today.
The presiding judge of the High Court today ordered that the terminations of Chief Superintendent of Police Abdulla Shareef, Superintendent of Police Ismail Shameem, and Superintendent of Police Mohamed Dawood be postponed.
But no order was issued by the High Court in the case of the removal of Assistant Commissioners of Police Mohamed Jamsheed and Ahmed Mohamed.
