Ministry of Islamic Affairs has declared Saturday (02nd April 2022) as the first day of this year’s Ramadan.
Saturday has been declared as the first day of this year’s Ramadan following confirmation of moon sighting in some islands of Maldives as well as in other Islamic nations as per Sharia rules.
In the Islamic calendar, a month begins with the sighting of the new crescent Moon. That makes astronomy a key part of Islamic events and festivals, including Ramadan and Eid.
