Transport Ministry has amended pick-up fares for goods transportation on Thursday.
The regulations stated that transportation fares should be charged according to the prices published by the Transport Ministry and the fares should be visible on the vehicle.
New fares for pick-up goods transportation are;
- 750KG to 2 Tonne pick-ups: MVR 200 per hour
- 750KG pick-ups: MVR 150 per hour
Moreover, all goods transported in pick-ups should be secured in the pick-up to avoid risk of accidents due to goods falling out of the pick-up, according to the Transport Ministry.
Additionally, the regulation also stated that pick-up truck drivers must have a clear view of the road from their rearview mirrors and have a person in the back with the goods for assistance.
The regulation also stated that pick-ups cannot obstruct traffic while unloading goods and pick-up trucks used for waste disposal must cover any waste to avoid littering, and the waste must be covered to contain any foul smell.
