The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation stated on Thursday that no Israeli airline has been permitted to operate flights to the Maldives, following a report in an Israeli news outlet about intentions to establish direct flights between the Maldives and Israel.
In a statement issued in reaction to the report, the Ministry emphasized that any notion of establishing air service between the Maldives and Israel is incorrect.
The transport ministry said that it has not held any negotiations or signed any agreements regarding the establishment of air travel between the Maldives and Israel, nor has it permitted any Israeli airline to conduct flights to the Maldives.
It went on to state that the government no intention of allowing any Israeli carrier to travel to the Maldives or signing any air transport agreements.
The Maldivian government supports Palestinians’ right to self-determination and has no diplomatic or trade links with Israel.
