Police apprehended two people in possession of 215 kilograms of heroin during a counter-narcotics operation, only days after another drug raid resulted in the arrest of 10 people and the recovery of 100 kilograms of heroin.
Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed hailed the success of the narcotics raid on Twitter, stating that it was the product of a collaborative effort by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED), Marine Police, Forensics Department, Raa Atoll Police Station, and Police Intelligence.
He also revealed that two people were apprehended with 215 kilograms of heroin during the counter-narcotics operation, which began on Wednesday.
The police commissioner also expressed gratitude to the Maldives National Defense Force and the Indian government for their assistance in the operation.
This is the second successful counter-narcotics operation this week, the first of which was also publicized through Twitter by the police commissioner.
He stated police recovered almost 100 kilos of heroin and detained ten individuals during the operation on Wednesday. In this operation, ten sites were searched over the course of 24 hours, according to the police commissioner.
But two of those detained during the operation were freed by the court, while four were remanded in jail for 15 days, three for 10 days, and one for five days.
