The government of Ukraine has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to address Russia’s plan to station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
The move was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the West’s increasing military support for Ukraine.
Ukraine has condemned the move and demanded action from the UK, China, the US and France to counter Russia’s “nuclear blackmail.”
The announcement has also been criticized by Germany as a “further attempt at nuclear intimidation.” Meanwhile, an explosion deep inside Russia has been blamed on a Ukrainian drone, further escalating tensions between the two countries.
