Urbanco has taken an exciting step by announcing its plans to construct a state-of-the-art motorsports arena in Thilafushi, signifying a promising venture for motorsports enthusiasts across the Maldives.
Urbanco has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment. This collaboration aims to allocate a 10-hectare parcel of land within Thilafushi Phase II for the establishment of this cutting-edge motorsports arena. The official signing of this agreement involved Urbanco’s Managing Director, Ahmed Athif, and Deputy Minister Azmoon Ahmed. Notably, President of the Racing Association of the Maldives, Mohamed Shamih, was also present at the ceremony.
Managing Director Athif revealed that the proposed motorsports arena will feature a world-class racing track that complies with international standards. It is expected to serve as a versatile venue for various motorsports disciplines, extending beyond just racing. This project’s primary objective is to provide a solution to the challenges faced by young motorsports enthusiasts due to the absence of a suitable facility, thereby promoting and nurturing their passion for motorsports.
This initiative not only demonstrates Urbanco’s commitment to facilitating recreational and sports opportunities for the youth but also signifies a remarkable addition to the Maldives’ sports infrastructure. With the promise of a world-class racing facility, motorsports aficionados can eagerly anticipate an arena that will cater to their needs and foster their talent in an internationally recognized setting.
