Speculation arises about Urbanco’s plan to reclaim land in Hulhumale Phase 2 to award land plots to Male natives under a government scheme.
The government has promised to provide free land to Male natives, but with limited land availability, Urbanco plans to undertake the drastic step of land reclamation. Sources reveal that China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which built the Sinamale Bridge, is likely to carry out the land reclamation.
The company has plans to build an international-class cruise terminal in Hulhumale, and former Managing Director Suhail Ahmed had stated that competent companies had applied for the opportunity to build the terminal. Urbanco has remained silent on the issue so far. As of now, the news remains speculation until Urbanco confirms their plans.
