Urbanco celebrated the official inauguration of the Container Park co-working space located in Hulhumale’. This innovative workspace offers an affordable and well-equipped office solution, complete with high-speed internet, printing services, and various amenities.
The ceremony marking the opening of the co-working space was presided over by Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Riyaz Mansoor. The Container Park project was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Economic Development, Business Center Corporation (BCC), and Urbanco. This initiative is a pivotal part of Urbanco’s broader plan to transform Hulhumale’ into a modern urban center, boasting a contemporary and artistic design that enhances the city’s aesthetic appeal.
During the inauguration, Deputy Minister Riyaz Mansoor underscored the government’s dedication to supporting small businesses and highlighted limited space as a significant challenge faced by these enterprises. The government has introduced initiatives like the SME Hub and Authentic Maldives to create a conducive environment for small businesses, with plans to establish an SME hub in Kulhudhuffushi City and Addu City.
Deputy Managing Director of Urbanco, Ahmed Qais, unveiled future development plans for the co-working space, including the addition of a takeaway cafe, fast food outlet, meeting room, and a public gathering area. The space will feature 25 workstations designed for small businesses, accompanied by two cafes and a charming park.
This co-working space is poised to benefit aspiring entrepreneurs, individuals, and groups seeking versatile workspace solutions. For the first month of operation, access to the facility will be complimentary, with bookings facilitated through an online portal. This initiative follows the success of BCC’s inaugural co-working space, “Seed by BCC,” which opened its doors in July 2021 and can accommodate up to 40 individuals concurrently.
