Velana International Airport’s new VIP/CIP terminal is set to be officially unveiled tomorrow
According to an Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL)’s official, the first phase of the new VIP/CIP terminal will be officially unveiled tomorrow. Moreover, the services rendered at its previous VIP terminal will be transitioned to the new VIP/CIP terminal, making way for the renovation of the old terminal.
The new VIP/CIP terminal’s major works have been completed for a number of days, however, due to pending finishing and furnishing works the terminal was never officially opened.
The new terminal is equipped with latest and more facilities along with a separate area for CIP customers and a special lounge and privacy for VIP customers. The new terminal was designed by Yuji Yamazaki Architecture who have designed a number of luxury resorts in the Maldives.
The VIA’s whole development project is estimated to cost around USD 1 billion with the construction of a new 3,400 meter runway, new passenger terminal, cargo terminal, fuel hangar, and a new seaplane terminal. Majority of the physical works are already done and progressing for several projects.
