Vice President Faisal Naseem inaugurated ‘Shaamil Adu’, a screen reading software in Dhivehi language for persons with disabilities. He launched the software at a ceremony with senior representatives from the education ministry.
The screen reading software is the first software of its kind to be introduced in the Maldives. The software was developed by the Department of Inclusive Education in association with Javaabu Private Limited. It also addresses difficulties faced by the visually impaired in accessing various platforms popular among children with vision disabilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem said he hopes that the software would facilitate further opportunities for persons with disabilities. Moreover, he highlighted the important role played by the government in providing opportunities for persons with disabilities and inclusiveness.
The software can be used on desktop computers as well as on Android and iOS platforms. It can be used both online and offline.
