Several employees of the Villimale’ Hospital have been suspended for administering expired vaccines to infants.
A spokesperson from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which manages the Villimale’ Hospital on Sunday confirmed that employees involved in the case have been suspended. However, the spokesperson was unable to specify the number of employees suspended.
The case was brought to the attention of authorities by Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Usham, who tweeted on Thursday that he had been receiving numerous complaints from his constituents that children were administered expired vaccines by the Villimale’ Hospital.
IGMH issued a statement on Friday that the Villimale’ Hospital had suspended administration of vaccines, and that the case was being probed by IGMH and Health Protection Agency (HPA).
