Vilimale’ Hospital is currently under investigation for attempting to administer an expired vaccine to an infant.
The incident was reported by PPM steering committee member Aminath Seena Mohamed who took to Twitter with photos of the expired vaccine, stating that the hospital had tried to administer it on a 6-month-old. Seena added that the infant’s father had refused to vaccinate the child after noticing the expiration date of 1st January 2022, though the vaccine type is still unknown,
Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Usham also addressed the incident on Twitter, saying that there have been concerns raised about Vilimale’ Hospital administering expired vaccines. He said that this is a serious issue which needs to be investigated by the administration.
Health Ministry officials have confirmed that the case is currently under investigation and more will be revealed upon completion.
