The final works of Vinares flats developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II will be completed and handed over to Housing Development Corporation (HDC) this July, according to Housing and National Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam.
In response to a question asked by a Member of Parliament at Wednesday’s sitting, Housing Minister Aslam said that Vinares apartments are closest to completion and it will be handed over to HDC in July. The majority of the apartments will be leased to Male’ residents and to few residents from atolls who moved to Male’, according to Minister Aslam.
Recipients of flats under failed housing schemes conducted in the past have been allowed to seek flats under the Vinares projects.
The Vinares housing project developed under former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration involves the construction of 1,344 housing units, all of which are 3-room apartments. The project, which aims to resolve some of the housing difficulties faced in the Greater Male’ Region, underwent several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
