Vice President Faisal Naseem has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the President’s Office.
Mabrook Azeez, the spokesperson for the President’s Office, announced in a tweet that VP Faisal, who had already gotten two doses of COVID-19 vaccination, was found to be positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and is now in self-isolation.
Mabrook also stated that Vice President Faisal was in good health and wished him a speedy recovery.
Cases in the country have reached an all-time high in the last two weeks, with more than 1000 cases reported every day for nearly a week.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported 1,299 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 59,644. The total number of deaths has increased to 147 with 3 additional deaths reported on Wednesday.
