A local woman has been found dead under suspicious conditions in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Nolhivaram.
The victim’s identity has also been confirmed to be 28-years-old, Nishama Mohamed, who is from the same island. She also has three children.
Maldives Police Service revealed that they received reports of a murder on the island around 12:30pm, adding that their officers had attended to the scene and taken an unconscious woman to the island’s Health Center. They further revealed that the doctors had pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Police are currently investigating all the related circumstances around the death of the woman and suspect her husband to be the culprit. Moreover, many islanders have speculated that Nishama was subject to domestic violence over the years.
